2009 4WD4KIDS

Saturday 2nd May – Monday 4th May

Newsletter No.4 - March 14th 2009

In just 7 weeks, this year's 4WD4Kids starts at St Albans (near Wiseman's Ferry). Full details, including how to start your fund-raising campaign, can be found here.

This unique event is ideal for families to enjoy; while helping NETS at the same time.

We are really excited about the direction that the event is taking and hopefully, with your help, we can make a huge difference to help NETS continue their great work.

Entry Forms & Fundraising

We thank those who have sent their entry forms in already and ask those who have not to please do so as soon as possible. We are able to accept donations right up until the start but we need your entry forms now so that we can allocate accommodation and order food for catering.

Also, when sending your entry form in, please make a note of how many adults and how many children are traveling with you. Entry forms can be downloaded from the NETS website. We agree that there is not long to go now which makes fundraising even more difficult, therefore we have kept the entry donation at $2,000 per vehicle, but if you are having trouble raising the full donation please contact us as we can help!

Also, a reminder that donation cheques need to be made payable to “NETS” and are fully tax deductible. Alternatively, you can build your fund-raising campaign by clicking
here.

Entry forms and cheques for meals & accommodation are to be sent to:

Route & Accommodation

This year we will start at St Albans (near Wiseman's Ferry) and will weave our way through the Watagan Mountains and Yengo National Park before we reach our accommodation at the Myuna Bay Sport & Rec facility. The accommodation is fantastic ... we have 3 bunkhouses booked and each one has 10 rooms which sleep 4 people. The rooms are spacious and the best part is that each room has its own bathroom!!! No sharing (except with your room-mates but we can't do much about your choice of friends!!!).

We will base our catering in one of the bunkhouses and there is plenty of room for the kids to run around while the parents unwind after a day of driving. The facility at Myuna Bay is so great that we are going to shorten our tracks a little bit to allow us extra time to enjoy some of the activities at the camp.

In terms of safety, there are several items that you must have in your vehicle including a first aid kit, snatch strap for towing, torch, fire extinguisher, 40-channel UHF radio and a container of water (10L minimum).
In addition to the above, we are also asking for each person to bring a chair as our lunch stops are in picnic areas so there is only limited seating available.

Meals & Accommodation Costs

This year we will be working out the meal & accommodation costs a little differently. Because of the set-up of the accommodation we will be charging per room rather than per person. Each vehicle will have one set cost for their room (whether you have 2, 3 or 4 people).

The meal money will be a separate amount and charged per person. Overall though we don't expect there to be much difference in cost compared to last year. The costs will be confirmed soon.
Like last year, we are catering for the event ourselves so the meal money needs to be made payable to AME Pty Ltd. We have set up this company specifically for this event so that we can keep accurate accounting records. It is a non-profit venture so any surplus money after suppliers have been paid will also be donated to NETS.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you, or your children, have any special diet requirements or allergies.

Uniden Offer

It is a requirement of the event that you have a UHF radio fitted to your vehicle. One of suppliers have put together a great deal which includes a quality Uniden 40 channel UHF radio and aerial for only $349. Please contact Steve on 04 1816 5264 to order or for more details.

Can you help?

As we are catering the event ourselves, we have been approaching companies to assist us in the supply of product. If you have any contacts that might be able to help in this area, an introduction would be greatly appreciated!
