| One in every 50 people in NSW will travel
with a NETS medical retrieval team sometime during their childhood. Half
are 'retrieved' in the newborn period and half as older children (mostly
as an infant or pre-school child). |
| NETS is arguably the largest single medical
retrieval service in Australia, moving around 1,750 critically ill patients
requiring retrieval each year. There are over 2,250 cases for whom requests
for retrieval are made. Those NETS doesn't send a team for are solved by
other means using the NETS clinical conferencing system. |
| Of 9 medical retrieval services in the state of New South Wales, NETS
accounts for nearly as many patients as all 8 other services combined. |
