Convoy For Kids Sydney
Convoy For Kids Sydney Inc was established in 1992 by a small group of dedicated people from the transport and associated industries that had a desire to help sick children.
This volunteer group started supporting NETS in 2009 and has since raised over $65,000 for our service.
This funding has enabled NETS to purchase a GPS vehicle tracking and fleet management system for the NETS ambulance fleet; which consists of 14 ambulances and three emergency response vehicles.
Thanks to Convoy for Kids Sydney Inc support, NETS was the first in NSW to have such a comprehensive GPS vehicle tracking and transport system for the ambulances.
The system is integrated into the NETS database and monitors the ambulances' arrival and departure times, plus track the route of the vehicle. Messages and alerts can be sent from NETS Clinical Coordination Centre directly to the drivers via email or sms.
The Clinical Coordination Centre staff is able to visually see where an ambulance is in 'real time' giving them the ability to schedule retrievals more efficiently and effectively utilising the fleet to its full potential.
Quickly accessing the route of an ambulance means a team already on its way back to the NETS base can be located to see if it is in the proximity of a referring hospital and if required can be redirect to the referring hospital to treat a sick baby or child, saving valuable time and ultimately a child's life.
The NETS Team are very grateful for the support of Convoy For Kids Sydney Inc.
