The PSN (Pregnancy and newborn Services Network) and NETS work
closely together to improve and support services for mothers and babies.
There are policies and guidelines published by the PSN:
Birth Before 32 Weeks Booklet
The PSN operates the Perinatal Advice Line (PAL) supports clinicians
seeking advice about management of high risk obstetric patients;
including potential transfer to a higher level hospital.
NETS hosts the PAL
Select Option #2 after calling the NETS Hotline
1300 36 2500.
The system routes calls to any of the tertiary perinatal centres
available to NSW and ACT hospitals for advice from that centre. Should it
be required, callers can select to talk to a PAL Clinical Midwife
Consultant; who is supported by a PAL Obstetrician.
